Perth is the capital of Western Australia, and is a very popular destination for many migrants, even though geographically it is the most isolated capital city in the world.
Located on the Swan River, Perth has beautiful parks (notably Kings Park overlooking the city), with sandy beaches close by. The climate is broadly Mediterranean, and although the average temperature in summers is in the mid to high 20's there can be very hot periods when the temperature is close to 40 degrees. Unlike Brisbane though, the heat is dry, and in the afternoons the sea breezes come in from the Indian Ocean (known as the "Fremantle Doctor") to cool and refresh.
For those heading to Perth as business migrants it is worth noting that the Small Business Development Corporation provides funding to assist with the preparation of business plans prepared by registered Migration Agents in WA and can assist with ongoing business support.
If you want to know more about Perth you can access the following from the links on this page:
- A searchable database of residential properties for rent - we generally recommend renting a property rather than buying when you move to a new city
- A businesses for sale database - which should be of particular interest to those who are moving to Australia with business visas
- The Go Matilda Discussion Forum for Perth where you can discuss issues with others who are already living and working there
Please contact us if there are any aspects of this section that you would like to see enhanced, and if you are a business based in or close to Perth that would like to introduce your product or service on this section of the Go Matilda site please don't hesitate to let us know.
