Brisbane is the capital of Queensland, and with the adjacent Gold Coast is the fastest growing area in Australia, due in no small part to its success in attracting businesses and as a destination for migrants, which in turn is most likely a function of its relative affordability and sub-tropical climate.
Brisbane is located on the Brisbane River and has a climate that is either warm and relatively dry (winter) or hot and wet (summer). Real estate costs are cheaper than Sydney and Melbourne. This combined with a significant amount of land available for building and some superb beaches makes Brisbane and its suburbs one of the main destinations for migrants, particularly those with young families.
If you want to know more about Brisbane you can access the following from the links on this page:
- A searchable database of residential properties for rent - we generally recommend renting a property rather than buying when you move to a new city
- A businesses for sale database - which should be of particular interest to those who are moving to Australia with business visas
- The Go Matilda Discussion Forum for Brisbane where you can discuss issues with others who are already living and working there
Please contact us if there are any aspects of this section that you would like to see enhanced, and if you are a business based in or close to Brisbane that would like to introduce your product or service on this section of the Go Matilda site please don't hesitate to let us know.
